Obituary for Sharon L. Kisak

Sharon L. Kisak (nee. Jacks) a resident of Brighton, formerly of Flint, well known and regarded as the proud owner of the Yum Yum Tree Restaurant in downtown Brighton, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2010 after a brave battle with cancer.

Born in Flint on July 24, 1941, Sharon was the daughter of Bernard & Marion Ferneau, and a graduate of Flint Central High School class of 1959. In 1982 she opened the Yum Yum Tree Restaurant at it's original location before moving to Main Street in Brighton in 1986. On February 26, 1987, she was married in Reno, Nevada to Robert "Bert" Kisak, her longtime love, business partner and best friend. For twenty-three years Sharon & Bert have enjoyed a wonderful marriage, filled with unforgettable memories, friendships, love and laughter.

Sharon was well known for her great sense of humor and called herself the "funny bone" of the family business. Making her rounds table to table to share her latest joke, she knew that laughter and good company were the key ingredients to any great meal and if not, well then the "Best Ice Cream in Town" would assure her the enjoyment of seeing patrons leave with a smile. At home, she enjoyed birdwatching, talking on the telephone and entertaining company. Sharon was happiest in the company of those she loved and felt especially blessed to see her family grow with the births of her grandchildren.

In addition to her beloved husband, Sharon is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Lizzi Day) Jacks; son, Roger (Dana) Jacks; grandchildren, Isabella and Aidan Jacks. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, dear friends and community business members join her immediate family to mourn the passing of a sweet woman while giving thanks to God for the unending ways her life has brightened theirs.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 711 Rickett Road, Brighton, Thursday at 11:30. Friends may gather at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 600 East Main Street, Brighton, Wednesday 3-8 PM. Memorials may be made to In-House Hospice, 30400 Telegraph Road, Suite 334, Bingham Farms, MI 48025.
