Raymond Dermid McLean was born to Dermid and Maude (Hare) McLean in Detroit, Michigan on May 28, 1921. He grew up with a sister Evelyn and brother Laurence.
In the 1940�s Ray worked alongside his father and brother in the family business of Snyder & McLean Engineering Company. Both Ray and Laurence received their engineering degrees from the University of Detroit, and would later take over the company upon their father�s retirement. It was also during the 1940�s that Ray pursued his love of music. He had a big band called �MacMcLean and His Music-Makers�, which was very popular in the Detroit and Windsor area.
Later on Ray would go to work for TMP Associates as their Electrical Engineering Department Head.
He was preceded in death by his parents Dermid and Maude McLean, sister Evelyn Potter and brother-in-law Brad Potter, brother Laurence and sister-in-law Mary McLean.
In 1978, he married the former Sylvia Ford, and she survives; also survived by his children Linda (Tom Litz) McLean of Blanchard, OK, and their families; Larry (Wendy) McLean of Milford, NJ, Elizabeth, Joshua and Shannon; and great-grandson, Braydon McLean; stepchildren Christopher (Michele) Ford, Alex, Andrew and Anton Ford of Brighton, Nancy (Mark) Hissong, Tawni and Austin Sharp, Bobby Wickman and Kirk Hissong of Brighton, Susan (Philip) Lerner, Hannah, Ben and Leah Lerner of Avon, CT, Steven (Sarah) Ford of Grosse Ile, MI. Also survived by his dear sister-in-law Katherine (Dennis) Richards of Ann Arbor, MI, special son-in-law, Mike Sharp, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 600 East Main, Brighton on Sunday, October 11 at 11 AM. Friends may gather from 10 AM until time of service.
