Obituary for Susan Emily Dillon

Susan Emily Dillon became a guardian angel on July 3, 2019. She passed away at the age of 57, amidst her loving husband, sons, and family.

Sue was born on May 30, 1962 to Bill and Elaine Boyke in Battle Creek, Michigan. Sue grew up in East Detroit (now Eastpointe) with her siblings Bill, Ilene and Ann Marie. Sue graduated from East Detroit High School in 1980, where she was a blooming artist and track star. Her track records are still unbroken in hurdles and relay and Sue was inducted into the EDHS Hall of Fame. At Eastern Michigan University, Sue developed a passionate relationship with her first love, the arts, and graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design while moonlighting on the track team. Riding a surge of popularity from the younger students she met as a Resident Advisor, Sue was honored to be crowned Homecoming Queen her senior year.

Like every great artist, Sue fell victim to true love and couldn’t resist the affections of Michael during her college years. She loved to recount the first time they met and how Michael surprised her with his charm and wit. Married on June 21, 1986, Sue and Mike started Graphic Visions Inc. in 1988. Along with charm and wit, Mike’s talent transformed Sue’s beautiful artistic vision into tangible products that customers loved. For 30 years, they added beauty to the communities of Southeast Michigan together.

A new chapter began when Cameron Patrick was born in1993 and expanded with the birth of Connor Michael in1995. Sue devoted her life to her family, both immediate and extended, while saving space for her friends. She found pleasure in the simple joys of life: gardening, playing bunco with the ladies, hosting advent tea at church, wandering aimlessly at art fairs, making Polish pierogis, collecting Christmas ornaments including every ornament her boys ever made her, and relaxing at home with family and friends on Silver Lake.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Michael; sons, Cameron and Connor; parents, William and Elaine (Tuchowski) Boyke; siblings, William (Carol) Boyke, Ilene (Michael) O’Neil, Ann Marie (Paul) Spadafora, and many nieces and nephews. Sue cherished her time with family and friends who will carry on her legacy of love and kindness.
