Samuel Eugene Plunkett Jr., of Brighton, joined his beloved wife Eula on December 9th, 2021. He was 88 years old.
Sam was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He was one of 5 children of Marion and Samuel Plunkett. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served numerous years. After his time in the Army, he worked as a Mechanic in Redford, where he met the love of his life Eula Shiflet. They married on February 14, 1959. They were married for 61 years before Eula's passing in October 2020.
Sam was a self taught electrician . He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, local 58, Detroit, Michigan. He retired in 1995.
Sam loved to travel. Throughout his life Eula, him and their children would travel often to Tennessee, Florida, and northern Michigan, often making stops along the way to make their trips more interesting.
Sam was a man of Faith and spent much of his free time working on various projects for his church.
He enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their various sporting and dancing events.
In his later years he lovingly cared for his wife when she came down with dementia.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who would do all in his power for those he loved.
Son of the late Samuel E. and Marian Plunkett, Sam is survived by his children, Robert (Cindy) Plunkett, and Tammy Abbott; grandchildren, Sheila (Will) Stevens, Brittany (Josh) Williams, and Zachary Plunkett; great grandchildren, Ethan, Josie, Isabella, and Hayden; sister, Donna Plunkett; also many extended family and dear friends.
Sam is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Eula Lee Plunkett
Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 600 E. Main St., Brighton, 48116 on Wednesday, December 15th from 1 to 4 PM.
Funeral Services will follow at 4 PM, with the Rev. Sam Watters to officiate.
