Bruce Breazeale peacefully passed in his sleep Tuesday morning, April 7th. Bruce was the second son of Joel Canon and Ruby Lee Breazeale of Detroit, MI.
The family suffered through a divorce and then the passing of Joel (Jack or J. C.) May 10, 1953. Bruce and his older brother Mike however were smothered with love and affection by Ruby Lee’s family, the Williams’ and their spouses. Bruce was always amazed at how many cousins he had and lucky he was to have them.
Ruby Lee remarried a few years later and Bruce enjoyed joining the Bloomingburg family with his new “Dad”, Pete Bloomingburg. On September 27th, 1955 a little brother, David James was born.
Bruce was an active child who always allowed his imagination to guide him. Once the owner of a Super Man costume he decided he could fly off the roof of the garage until his older brother stopped him. While never the biggest kid on the team, he was a good athlete and played baseball and football throughout his youth.
His career in automotive engineering/drafting/designing started at American Motors and led to many stops at various Tier I suppliers and “Job Shops”. It also helped to support his love for music – lots and lots of music!
His greatest pride however were his children, Scott, Beth (Mockus), and Matthew.
He would jump at any chance to (rightly so) brag about their accomplishments and their children. Bruce had a total of three grandchildren.
One of his little known accomplishments was to win his varsity letter at Redford Union High School in his sophomore year while on the wrestling team. He cherished the years at RU and was always happy to talk about his experiences there.
In recent years he lived at “the cottage” on Little Crooked Lake in Brighton, MI where the Sand Hill Crain’s would actually come to his front door for a treat that he would leave for them daily. That would sometimes interfere with the neighborhood dogs that would show up at his back door for their morning treats.
God Bless you Bruce.
