William J. "Pre" de Manincor, age 90, a former resident of Redford Twp., Michigan and the Philadelphia area, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 5:00 PM, surrounded by loving family. He was born on February 24, 1922 at home in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, the youngest of the thirteen children of Tyrolean immigrants, Sisinio and Maria Rossi de Manincor. He graduated from Mount Carmel Catholic High School in 1939 where he was nicknamed "Doc" and was active in football and drama club.
After school, William moved to Philadelphia and joined Ford Motor Company where he began working on the assembly line until he was drafted into the Army Air Corps. He was stationed in Britain during WWII, with the 388th Bombardment Group. Shortly before leaving to serve his country, he married his sweetheart, Ann Mazur. Following the war he returned to Ford Motor Co. And continued to be promoted throughout his career. He retired as Superintendent of Maintenance at the Wixom plant after a loyal forty years. He was a hardworking, devoted employee and proudly seldom missed a day of work.
Family was important to Bill, he maintained close relationships with his siblings and in-laws in his frequent visits and he was a very loyal husband for nearly fifty years and a dedicated father to eight. Ann was the love of Bill's life and when she became ill with dementia at an early age, he was never far from her side. As a devout Catholic, praying the Rosary was an ever present act of his faith and every family trip was started with it. In addition to traveling to visit his family, he enjoyed world travel, returning to some of his favorite places, like Thailand and Spain several times. His last trip was to Costa Rica when he was 85. He studied Spanish in his 70's to prepare for a five week trip to Spain. William lived life to the fullest and took his duties at work, at play and as the family patriarch seriously.
He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife, Ann Mazur de Manincor, daughter, Ann "Nana" de Manincor, and his twelve siblings.
He leaves children, Bill (Lin), Faith, Denise (Jim) Dodson, Lois (Roger) Ditmar, Richard (Bonnie), Mark (Donna), and Nanette Good; thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, a great great grandson and many nieces and nephews.
