Obituary for William J. Fahrner

William J. Fahrner, of Brighton passed away peacefully on August 21, 2014. He was 88 years old.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Frances (d.2003)

He is the father of Nancy Meskill, William (Gwyn), James (Joan), David (Cynthia), John (Patricia), the late Margaret Parvin and her son Mark Parvin, Kathleen Gore, Paul (Jane) and the late Thomas. Grandfather of 19 and great-grandfather of 13. Also survived by many loving extended family members, dear friends and coworkers at Detroit Edison where he had worked for over 38 years.

Mr. Fahrner will be remembered as a very generous man who was always there to help others. William served his country in the United States Navy and graduated from Notre Dame with a degree in Engineering. He was a dedicated employee of Detroit Edison and worked as an engineer/project manager for two power plants in Detroit. He enjoyed family vacations and time spent outdoors. His father's cottage on Lake Huron and Frances' parents cottage on Duck Lake were a couple places special to the Fahrner family to gather and enjoy great times spent as a family. Later in life, after his retirement from Detroit Edison, Mr. Fahrner spent a lot of his time in Florida spending quality time with his companion Delores. He will be missed by many who join with his family in both mourning his passing and giving thanks to God for his life among them.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 711 Rickett Road, Brighton on Monday, August 25 at 10:30. Father Vince Richardson to officiate. Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 600 East Main Street, Brighton on Sunday 2-9 PM.Memorials may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association.
