GRIEF & HEALING

each stage of the grieving process.
Be the first to share your favorite memory, photo or story of William. This memorial page is dedicated for family, friends and future generations to celebrate the life of their loved one.
We ask on behalf of the family that you keep your comments uplifting and appropriate to help all who come here to find comfort and healing.
William was born on March 3, 1954 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the fourth child to Donald and Jean Meyer. Following graduation from Belleville High School in 1972, William began his thirty-three year career with Ford Motor Company at the Wayne Assembly Plant. William then met the love of his life, Wanda while she was attending Eastern Michigan University and the two eloped on July 16, 1979 in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. They eventually had their two beloved children, Rebecca and Connor and raised their family in Brighton. After his retirement from Ford in 2007 and in a quest to remain active, William earned his Driver Education certificate from the University of Central Michigan and began work with All Star Driver Education in Howell. William found great joy in the interactions with his students, as well as impacting his students lives. He loved playing golf, taking photographs, watching the Detroit Tigers and never missed his childrens soccer and basketball games. William loved to travel and to put together trip itineraries for his family, whether it was a road trip to a National Park, a visit to an art museum, or an experience at a Civil War battlefield. He had a soft spot for animals and he loved the many pets that had a home with the Meyer family. William was a wonderful husband and father who always treated others with kindness and compassion; he will be missed by all that knew him and will forever remain in our hearts.
He leaves his beloved wife of 34 years, Wanda; dear children, Rebecca and Connor; father, Donald; brothers, Thomas (Nancy), Kevin (Marcia), Douglas; sisters, Donna (Rich) Matta, Sue and many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and his faithful companions. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean and brother, Ronald.
