Obituary for Sidney Stuart Ferriss

Sidney “Sid” Stuart Ferriss of Linden, passed away on November 11, 2019. He was 74 years old. Sid served in the US Army and was stationed in South Korea. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones on Veteran's Day.

Sid graduated from Edsel Ford High School in Dearborn, Michigan in 1963. He married Elizabeth Rosemarie Rakoczy on April 20, 1974. Sid spent thirty years employed by Ford Motor Company as a systems analyst, retiring in 1999.

Sid was an outdoorsman and loved to be up north, especially time spent at hunt camp with his brother and cousins. He enjoyed boating and fishing with friends and family. He liked to spend time in the western United States and traveled by car and train to California. Sid had a passion for classic cars. He was a skilled problem solver with a great sense of humor and a generous heart. Sid considered family a gift and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and extended family members. He shared with them his belief in the importance of love, laughter and gratitude in building strong relationships with family and friends. Sid was proud of his Irish and Scottish roots and the traditions that came along with that, including enjoying a fine aged whiskey.

Sid is preceded in death by his nephew, Brian and his parents, Richard and Elizabeth Ferriss.
He is survived by his wife, Betty of 45 years; son, Jeff (Ren) and their son, Sidney; daughters, Jamie (Jason) Sasena and their children Finley, Brody and Caiden; and Diana (Andrew) Herman and their children, Jackson and Cameron; his brother, Joe (Sharon) Ferriss; sister, Janet (Patrick) O’Donnell and their son, Andrew, as well as many extended family and dear friends.

Sid’s family would like to extend sincere appreciation for the love and support shown to Sid and his family during his final days.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 600 E. Main St. Brighton, on Saturday, November 16 at 1 PM. The Rev. Fr. Robert Copeland to officiate.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 AM until the time of service.

Memorial Contributions can be made to Collection for Military Service, ℅ St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide Street, Fenton, MI 48430.
