Ruth Lenor Schroeder, age 81, of Brighton Township, formerly of Flint and Auburn, Michigan returned to her heavenly home on October 18, 2019, after a valiant battle with a long illness. Her belief and devotion to God, along with family, supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Our Lord gave Ruth life on November 9, 1937 at home in Auburn, Michigan She was the fourth of eight children He gave to Edward and Lena Schroeder. She was given faith in Christ and received into the Kingdom of God through Holy Baptism on December 12, 1937 at Zion Lutheran Church in Auburn. On March 18, 1951 she gave public testimony to her faith in the Rite of Confirmation at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bay City, where she attended their Lutheran school for 8 years. In her adult life, Ruth received God’s gift of forgiveness, life and salvation regularly at Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church in Brighton through Holy Communion.
She married Gary Cornack of Bay City on September 17, 1960 and had two children.
Ruth is survived by her children, Thomas Cornack of Howell and Carolyn Norman of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Nicole Akridge (John), Kyle Norman and Aaron Cornack; great-grandchildren, Edward Norman and Isabelle Akridge; sisters and brothers, Shirley Atton, Geraldine Satterlee, Lyle Schroeder (Delores), Gordon Schroeder (Faye), Harley Schroeder (Barb), and Karen Prussing, She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister Darlene Schneider Miller and parents, Edward and Lena Schroeder.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12 O’clock on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church, 2101 S. Hacker Road, Brighton, MI 48114. Visitation will be held from 11AM to 12 Noon on Tuesday at the church prior to the funeral service. Following a luncheon, burial will take place at Lutheran Home Cemetery, 5545 8 Mile Road, Bay City, MI 48706.
