Ronald K. Keniston, a resident of Saline, MI passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, August 29, 2021. He was 88 years of age.
Ron was born in Battle Creek, Michigan where he met his wife Maggie whose Dad coached Ron's amateur league baseball team that won the National AA championship in 1953. Ron signed a letter to play professional baseball with the St Louis Cardinals as a pitcher, but he was drafted into the Army and for two years he was stationed at Fort Knox. He injured his shoulder, retired from baseball and went to MSU. He majored in business and worked for State Farm Insurance Agency for 50 years.
Ron loved the Lord and taught Sunday school at Saline Assembly for 28 years. He was a scratch golfer, loved fishing and was very involved in competitive athletics with his children which includes, 4H horse shows, baseball, volleyball, basketball and football. Maggie was the love of his life and they were married 64 years. Their commitment to God and family were evident in everything they did. "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord," Joshua 24:15.
Ron is survived by his children, Ronald Keniston Jr., Greg (Pennie) Keniston, Kerri (Kenneth) Morrison and Linda Papak; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, John Paul, Larry, Dave, Ted and Nancy as well as many close friends and extended family members.
He Proceeded in death by his loving, devoted wife, Margarette (nee. Spaulding) Keniston; his father, John Paul Keniston and his mother Sally (nee. Popplewell) Keniston; his brothers, John Paul and Tim and son-in-law, Thomas Papak.
A Memorial service will be held for Ron at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI 48442 on Friday, September 10, 2021 beginning at 10:00am. Attendees must arrive no earlier than 9:45am to be escorted to the service at 10:00am. He will be buried with Military Honors.
