Obituary for Ronald Douglas Avery

Ronald D. Avery, a resident of Brighton for over twenty years, passed away at his home on October 18, 2011. He was 48 years old.

Born in Highland Park, Michigan on December 23, 1962 to Eldon and Carol (nee Becker), Ron and his sister Lynda were raised in Livonia where his parents still reside today. After graduating from Livonia Bentley High School in 1981, he then attended Schoolcraft College. Rons studies in related trades and mathematics prepared him well for his career as a Computer Numerical Control Machinist at National Liquid Blaster Company in Wixom, Michigan. Ron was passionate about his job, truly enjoyed the camaraderie he shared among his colleagues and found great personal and professional satisfaction during his twenty year career.

Rons other job was his 4.5 acres of land. He loved his riding lawn mower and taking care of his yard. Although he mostly ignored anything like gardening and plants, he was serious about his lawn. Keeping it all neatly cut and well maintained- this was Rons labor of love. A true rocker', Ron loved drumming, just practicing rhythms and playing his own beats. He idolized the work of Neil Peart of the band Rush and practiced Neils style of drumming. Ron was also a life long fan of the Detroit Red Wings. He proudly wore his teams colors and rarely missed the televised games with his cat, Peanut, and his dog, Cinnamon, as his constant and game-time companions.

Although his career was important and his hobbies kept him busy, Rons true and constant joys were his children and his family. Go-Kart rides around the property, boating on the lakes, trips to apple orchards and pumpkin patches, cook outs, picnics at Kensington... You named it and he was ready for fun, generous with his affection and eager to make treasured memories.

Ron Avery lived a passionate life -- meeting life's challenges, embracing the many gifts God gave him: good work, wide interests and his beautiful family -- and if his times seemed too brief, they were abundantly blessed with authentic joy, deep love and real meaning.

He is survived by his beloved children, Sierra & Jacob, his step-son, Kyle and their mother, Sandy; parents, Eldon and Carol Avery; sister, Lynda Franklin; nieces, Aubrey & Amy Franklin, along with many extended family members and dear friends who join together to mourn their loss while giving thanks to God for his life among them.

Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 600 E. Main St, Brighton, on Sunday, October 23, at 2 PM. Rev. Daniel F. Michalek to Officiate. Burial Oakland Hills Cemetery, Novi, MI. Visitation will be Saturday from 2-7 PM. & Sunday from 1 PM until time of service.
