Obituary for Ronald E. Bellar

Ronald Eugene Bellar, 82, of Brighton, Michigan passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022 surrounded by family.

Ronald was born in Mad River, Ohio on December 28, 1939 to the late James and Doris Bellar. He was raised in Enon, Ohio and eventually moved to Milford, Michigan in 1970 after attending GMI Engineering school. He worked for Kelsey Hayes in Milford before going to TRW in Brighton and eventually TRW in Fowlerville before retiring in 2004. His wife Carolyn owned the Sunnyside Cafe in Milford for many years and it was not uncommon for him to be there helping her every chance he could.

He was a true family man. Ronald and his wife Carolyn raised eight children. He was always a dependable man, respected by his family and his peers. He taught his children all the important lessons in life like a hard work ethic, how to change a tire, and instilled the value of family in all of them. He had a great sense of humor, loved playing games with his children and grandchildren, embraced family dinners together and always made family time meaningful. The Bellar home growing up was a place that everyone felt welcome and loved. Ronald adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as his family meant the world to him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn, and a son, David Bellar.

Beloved husband of the late Carolyn. Loving father of Peggy Kattelus (John), Jeanette Ellsworth (Joe), Donald Bellar (the late Joyce), Ronald G. Bellar (Justiina), Thomas Bellar, Mary Nichols (Scott), Robert Bellar (Amy), and the late David Bellar. Devoted grandfather of 22, and proud great-grandfather of 12. Brother of Regina Bellar, James Bellar, and the late Robin Braun.

A Funeral Mass will take place May 18, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church 2201 S. Old 23 Highway, Brighton, MI 48114. Friends may gather at 10 AM.
