Obituary for Roberta Catherine Sargent

Roberta Catherine “Robin” Sargent, a resident of Brighton, Michigan, formerly of Garden City, Michigan passed away on July 26th, 2019 at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor at the age of 66.

She was born on May 31, 1953 to Robert and Irene Szur in Detroit, Michigan, the oldest of three siblings, and was raised in Garden City, Michigan. Robin graduated from Garden City West High School. She worked at various customer service jobs and retired from Mascari and Associates in May of 2015. As a senior in high school, she was crowned Miss Spark after winning the Garden City Fire Department beauty pageant. Her family took great joy in talking about this accomplishment.

Robin’s greatest joy was spending time with her husband of 28 years, her three children, five grandchildren and her nieces and nephew. She enjoyed fishing, trips to the casino and cheering on her favorite sports teams. She was the most gracious person you ever met unless you crossed her family, especially her nieces, nephew and grandchildren. In her retirement years, she enjoyed spending time with her beloved mother and best friend, Irene.

Robin is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Scott (Marie) Sargent, Todd (Carrie) Sargent and Beth Sargent; grandchildren, Cassidy, Benjamin, Sawyer, Connor and Nolan; her mother, Irene; brother, Bill (Loretta) Szur; sister, Kathy Szur-Deyonker; nephews, Alex Deyonker and Dave (Kim) Stange; and her nieces, Samantha (Mike) Paducha, DeAnne (Brian) Slattery and Cate Deyonker. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Szur.

A Memorial and Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. For more information contact Scott Sargent at
