Richard “Rick” Allen Harwood, a resident of Tyrone Township, a former resident of Troy and a retired Walled Lake Western High School teacher, slipped away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on May 14, 2019 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was 71 years old.
He is survived by his beloved wife of forty eight years, Linda (nee. Middleton) Harwood; his daughters, Megan (Perry) McConnell and Kirsten (Mike) Donnellon; dear granddaughters, Katie, Heather and Chelsea McConnell, Betty, Jolene and Quincy Donnellon; his sister, Sharon (Ted) Kramer; his brother, David (Jean) Harwood; sisters-in-law, Pam (Greg) Kane and Karen (John) Maynard; nieces and nephews, Christine, Jason, Beth, Sean and Kristi; great-niece and nephew, Rosalie and Harrison; as well as many dear friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 600 E. Main Street, Brighton on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 3 PM, with visitation beginning at 1 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Livingston Symphony Orchestra,129 N. Hibbard St. Fowlerville, MI 48836 or to the Sierra Club.
