Obituary for Richard "Rick" George Kirsch

Richard “Rick” Kirsch, of Brighton, passed away peacefully on July 18th, 2021 while surrounded by his family. He was 76 years old.

For the fight that Rick fought with his many ailments throughout the years, Susan's favorite verse for Rick comes from 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Rick fought the good fight, he has finished the race, he has kept the faith. Now there is in store for him the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to him on that day—and not only to him, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

Rick met the love of his life Susan while in their senior year of high school. They moved to Northville, to raise their two sons Barry and Brad. Rick went to trade school to become an electrician, in the IBEW. His ambitions helped him to perform jobs on the The Uniroyal Giant Tire in Allen Park, also the Ambassador Bridge. Eventually Rick and Susan they made their home in South Lyon for a short time, until Rick retired, then moved to Brighton until Rick’s last day. He survived almost 22 years because his special friend Vicky donated her kidney to him.

Rick and Susan were avid travelers. They visited many different states and countries, until his diagnosis limited his travel. Among their adventures, they as a family enjoyed white water rafting. His other hobbies consisted of golf, and target shooting with his friends. He was known as being very helpful, especially assisting with his many talents. He was a boy scout den leader for his son Barry and his scout pack, and a little league baseball coach. Rick loved the lord, and with his dedication it helped him become a youth group leader, and served in his local churches. He was passionate about his bible study group.

Son of the late George and Elizabeth Kirsch, Richard is survived by his wife of 56 years, Susan Kirsch; sons, Barry (Stephanie) Kirsch, and Brad (Christina) Kirsch; grandchildren, Stephen, Amanda, Lucas and Eva Kirsch; siblings, Jerry and John Will; also many extended family and dear friends.

Richard is preceded in death by his sister, Julie Frenkel; step-father, Gerald Will.
