Obituary for Richard N. Chapman

Richard (Dick) Chapman passed away peacefully August 1, 2011, at age 89. Born April 21, 1922, Dick graduated from Detroit Catholic Central High School in 1940. Veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII, Dick was a 2nd Lt. and B-24 bomber pilot in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre of War. He had a 34-year career with Burroughs Corp, starting in 1947 at the Tireman Plant, then the Plymouth Plant, and ending at World HQ as Director of Safety & Security worldwide in 1981. He was the last Director of Burroughs Farms and had been at the 1927 dedication as a 5-year old.

Preceded in death by his parents, Dewitt (1970) and Isabelle (1969), his brother, Jack (1927), sister Norine (2008), and his bride of 44 years, Nancy (1989). He is survived by his 5 children: Jeanne Chapman, Pat (Bill) Dudenas, Barb Fordell, Ric Chapman, and Beth (Tom) Smith; by his 10 grandchildren: Michele & Bob (Jenn) Belczak, Mike & Bill (Anita) Dudenas, Kevin Fordell, Jessica & Ty Nuottila, Laura (Mike) Caruso, Stephanie & Brennan Smith; and by 6 great-grandchildren: David & Tyler Dudenas, Sydnee Belczak, Madison Dudenas, Jackson Nuotilla and Elias Caruso. Also, loving nieces and nephews: Kathy Ferrando, Jill Molnar, Paul Molnar and Mike Locallo.

A full and wonderful life blessed by many good friends and good times. He will be greatly missed.

Mass of the Resurrection from St. Mary Magdalen Church, 2201 S. Old US Highway 23, Brighton, Saturday, August 6 at 10AM. Friends may visit at Church beginning at 9AM. Burial will occur privately at a later time at St. Patrick Calvary Cemetery, Brighton. In lieu of flowers, Dick requested contributions to St. Joseph Mercy Livingston Hospice, 907 Fowler St., Howell, MI 48843, in his and Nancy�s names.
