Obituary for Peggy Ann Schmid

Peggy Ann Schmid (nee McGroder), resident of Brighton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on May 15, 2020 at the age of 87. Peggy was born in Buffalo, New York and is preceded in death by her loving husband, Laurence Bernard, her parents Kearn and Gertude, and her brother K. Dennis McGroder. She is also preceded in death by her beloved daughter-in-law, Michelle Schmid.

Peggy is survived by her children, Laurence Bernard II (Donna), Michael (Benjamin), Patrick (Angela), Julie Haidar (Ali), Karen Zapalski (Raymond), Laurie Murphy (Daniel), and Thomas. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Peggy shined her light into the world by lovingly nurturing her family and compassionately caring for the elderly during her 40+ year career as a nurse. She always had a kind, welcoming smile for everyone she met and her comforting presence and gentle strength were a blessing to those who knew her. She will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Brighton on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 10 AM, with visitation beginning at the church at 9 AM.
