Patricia Ann Anderson, a long time resident of Brighton, died on May 22, 2016 at the age of 82.
Patricia “Pat” was born in Howell, Michigan, the daughter of Howard and Mildred (nee. Fassett) Harter. She grew up in Howell, where she was a 1952 graduate Howell High School, and worked as a secretary with Detroit Gasket in Brighton for several years.
She married James L. Anderson on June 23, 1956 in Howell and together they began their family to whom her life was devoted. She possessed a generous heart and kind spirit, and treasured her family who would attest to the fact that she loved them and her grandchildren as much as she loved "Santa Claus”!
Pat possessed a wonderful and witty sense of humor. Though she was soft hearted, she was also a ‘tough lady’ enduring the challenges that life has for all of us, helping friends and family whenever they were in need.
Pat and her husband resided for sixty years in the same home that they built in downtown Brighton The couple LOVED BRIGHTON and were avid gardeners and took great pride in their love of flowers and their yard. Together they hosted the La Casa garden tour and received several garden awards over the years for the exceptional gardens and lush landscape that they created.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband of forty-nine years, James L. Anderson, Sr. in 2005 and is survived by her sons, James (Nancy) Anderson, Jr., John (Mary) Anderson, and Thomas (Cathi) Anderson; her daughter, Gena (Robert) Schrems; grandchildren, James Anderson III, Katherine Anderson, Paul (Katie) Schrems, Kaylyn (fiance Taran Hooks) Schrems, Max (Caitlyn) Anderson, Miles Anderson, John Anderson, Hans Anderson, Stephanie Anderson, Elsa Anderson, and Svea Anderson; great granddaughter, Evy Anderson; brother Dale (Terrie) Harter and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard “Hop” Harter and Mildred (Fassett) Harter, and a brother, Richard Harter.
Private family funeral services will be held with interment in Fairview Cemetery in Brighton. Memorials may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society or Grace Hospice. For further information please phone Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, Brighton, at 810-229-2905.
