Obituary for Noah Alexander Kokoszka

Noah Alexander Kokoszka of Brighton passed away April 18, 2011. He was 22 years old.

Born February 11, 1989 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Noah was the first born son to parents Thomas Mark and Margaret (nee Foley) Kokoszka. Noah, his brothers and sister were raised in the Brighton community where the family was active with St. Patrick Catholic Church. Noah attended St. Patrick school and Detroit Catholic Central High School. At Catholic Central he excelled academically and athletically, earning Varsity letters in Football, Basketball and Track & Field as well as recognition as an Honor student and earning numerous academic awards. As a 2007 graduate of Catholic Central, Noah was recruited for the offensive line of the Kalamazoo College Hornets. Throughout his four years with the Hornets, Noah was a contributing player; in his Senior year, his leadership was marked as a team Co-Captain and he was awarded the Marigene Arnold Award because he exemplified the characteristics and quality desired in a Hornet Football player. Noah's leadership and compassion reached beyond the field and across campus both in his capacity as a Captain and a Resident Advisor. Noah was a Senior in the Kalamazoo College class of 2011, studying Biology and earning his Bachelors of Science degree.
Noah spent a semester in Costa Rica, living and learning about the culture and completing collegiate work, Noah was active in many volunteer activities at St. Patrick Church, the local food pantry, and coaching in community basketball. He spent two weeks in Honduras on a Habitat for Humanity building project, another summer as a counselor at the YMCA camps and yet another volunteering at the Veteran's Hospital. These broad experiences, informed his decision to pursue a career in health care.
Noah is survived by his grandparents Alexander Joseph (the late Patricia) Kokoszka and Eileen M. (the late Raymond I.) Foley; loving parents Tom and Margaret Kokoszka; brothers Brenden and Gabriel; sister Erin. Uncles and Aunts including Jim and Janet Kokoszka, Rob and Gert Koska, Dale and Janet Liske, Dave and Susan Kokoszka, Leo and Barbara Foley, Robert and Nora Ayuso, Raymond and Terry Foley, Ken and Josie Foley, Dom and Stacey Foley, Larry and Julie Foley, Patrick and Dorothy Foley, Craig and Eileen Reickert, many cousins, extended family and a host of dear friends join his family in mourning his passing and giving thanks to God for his life among them.

Mass of the Resurrection will take place at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 711 Rickett Rd., Brighton, Monday, April 25th at 10:30 AM. Fr. Karl Pung to officiate. Burial St. Patrick Calvary Cemetery, Brighton. Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 600 E. Main St., Brighton Saturday, April 23rd from 3-9 PM. Rosary 7 PM.
