Mr. Kim T. Wattawa, of Brighton, MI, passed away peacefully on February 20th, 2021. He was 67 years old.
Kim had a vivacious and contagious love for life. He was born a man of adventure, when asked where his was off to next he would reply “which ever way the wind blows”. He sailed the Hawaiian Islands, back packed the wilds of Alaska and drove many sets of wheels off of his campers traveling the US. He loved his family and friends generously and freely. In 1986 he joined the Shriners of Detroit, an order dedicated to giving back to the community
and actively working to make the world a better place for all.
Kim retired from Millwright local 1102. He installed conveyers, robots and machinery in places
like auto plants, power houses and steel mills across the US. Kim also had a creative and inventive nature that led to him have his own US patent. On many occasions Kim worked with his dad (Leroy), brother (Michael) and best friend (Doug). There was never a dull moment. Lots of hard work and laughter. You can only guess the conversations at the dinner table. “vvvvvvtttttt”
Kim never missed an opportunity to say thank you to God for all of his blessings or to tell his family and friends how much they meant to him.
He was a loving father to his daughter Marissa. The type of father that would never say “no jumping on the bed” but rather “lets see how high you can go” and probably join in on the fun. He was a devoted Husband to wife sandy and one of his greatest pleasures was to make her
smile. Kim was well known for the sparkle in his eye, his ready smile and booming laugh. His kindness, positive outlook and sense of humor will always live on with his loved ones.
Son of the late Leroy and Joyce Wattawa, Kim is survived by his wife of 12 years, Sandra J. Wattawa; Daughter, Marissa (Daniel) Gehringer; grandchildren, Grace, and Cole Gehringer, Harley and Willow McGraw; siblings, Lesa, Mike, and Lori Wattawa; also many extended family and dear friends.
Kim is also preceded in death by his brother, Scott Wattawa.
Entombment will take place at United Memorial Gardens in Plymouth, MI.
