Obituary for Michael James Lesher

Michael James Lesher of Brighton, died tragically on Wednesday evening, August 19, while swimming in Spring Mill Pond in the Island Lake Recreation Area. He was 18 years old. Born on April 20, 1991, Michael is the son of James Alan and Victoria (Pollert) Lesher. A 2009 graduate of Brighton High School where he was a percussionist and snare drummer in the marching band, Michael also played Freshman Football and earned Varsity letters in Wrestling and Rugby. He was a member of the Homecoming Court his Junior year. He played with the Youth Band at Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church and had worked summer jobs at Gus's Carry Out and Michigan CAT. He was looking forward to attending Michigan State University in the fall.

Michael was a devout Christian. His faith in Jesus Christ and love of family and friends formed the strong core of his life. His kindness of heart always made those around him feel so special. He cherished his circle of friends, especially his beloved Caitlin Black and Scott Tousignant.

He also loved the Detroit Lions, playing his drum set and riding his motorcycles. Recently he took a long motorcycle trip with his dad to Copper Harbor.

Michael is survived by his parents, James (Ann) Lesher and Victoria Lesher, his sisters, Joanna and Monica, grandparents, Kenneth and Elsie Pollert and his many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and dear friends who join together in mourning the untimely death of a fine young man and giving thanks to God for his life among them.

A Funeral Service will be held at Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church, 2101 South Hacker Road, Brighton, Wednesday, August 26 at 11 AM. Visitation at the church from 10 AM until time of service. Rev. Mark Milatz and Rev. Paul Werner to officiate. Burial Brighton Hills Cemetery. Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 600 East Main Street, Brighton, Monday 5-9 PM and Tuesday 2-9 PM.
