Mary E. Galdes age 74 of Howell, died in the care of her family, January 9, 2010.
Mary was a wonderful and dedicated wife. She was always a giving person, always very content. She never complained. She found joy in simple pleasures. She is a true model for everyone. She taught us to live in joy and appreciation of all our blessings. For the past 12 years, Mary was afflicted with breast cancer and Alzheimer's disease. She conquered the breast cancer with grace. The Alzheimer's took her memory, but her kind and gentle spirit remained. Her beautiful true essence never fell victim to the disease as she continued to want nothing and to give to anyone in need. Her love for children showed even in the end when her beautiful smile beamed and her face lit up whenever one walked into the room. Her tremendous faith in the Lord also endured through years of suffering. She sang to the songs in church until the end. Mary was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mom, a grandmother, a friend, a cousin, and a true servant of the Lord. She always made holidays and birthdays special. She enjoyed bowling and sewing and was an avid reader. Her concern was always for those she loved and served and never let the things of this world worry or distract her. She remained humble, never seeking attention for all her work. Mary passed away in the presence of her husband and children in a very sacred way, her final gift to them. There were tears of both great sadness and also of joy. It was truly a blessing to be able to share in this precious child of God's return home. We know her true reward will be eternal in heaven where we hope to see her again.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Gordon; loving children, Carrie (Bill) Havens, Mark (Mia), Anne (Dan) Cini, Paul (Kim) and Lori (Eric) Allmacher; grandchildren, Angela, Joshua, Emily, Christopher, Chad, Zachary, Lyndsy, Troy, Bryce, Claire and Sarah; brother, Robert (Mary) Cori.
Also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
