Mary Carlotta Frank, of Brighton died January 2, 2010. She was 79 years old.
Mary Carlotta Frank was born in Orlando, Florida January I5, 1930. As a child, she and her family moved from their Orlando home to Detroit, Michigan. A somewhat mischievous and extraordinarily clever adolescent, Mary excelled in school. During her teenage years, she attended Western High School. It was during this time when she fell in love with her future husband Andrew Frank. At twenty years of age the two High School sweethearts married in 1950. Throughout sixty years of marriage their love for one another was endless as was the unwavering love she had for her family.
A true matriarch, Mary Frank was a proud and protective mother of five. Her children Drew, Gail, Lynn, Mark and Wade were blessed to be raised by such a strong, poised, and loving woman. They had the type of mother who would not hesitate to volunteer her time to help with school functions or homework. Mary would do anything to help her children have a better life. As a mother, she provided an excellent example. She lived the motto "If there is a will, there is a way." For instance, through her own initiative, Mary could provide electrical work, installed plumbing and became an adept carpenter. She taught herself how to paint, and is fondly remembered as a handywomen. Mary is tenderly
remembered as a wise and free spirit who never backed down from a challenge.
In addition to being a mother of five, Mary decided to take on a career change later in life. After obtaining her Master's degree from the University of Michigan, she took a job with Romulus Public Schools teaching the fifth grade. She spent long hours and often her own money to help underprivileged children find their way. Fortunately, after her retirement from teaching the love and lessons she had to share were not lost. Her grandchildren are blessed to have had a grandmother who provided unwavering support and unconditional love. Through her actions in life, she has left behind for her grandchildren a cherished blueprint of how to live.
In her lifetime, Mary had the opportunity to travel the globe. From family trips to Florida and Arizona, luaus in Hawaii, Mexican fiestas, relaxation in Aruba and throughout the European continent, she embraced exploration. She sought excitement in horseracing and slot machines, found hidden treasures while antiquing, and will be deeply missed poolside each summer. She brought smiles to her family and friends with her humor and quick wit.
Mary had the remarkable opportunity to spend her life surrounded by the people she loved. She was constantly near family and friends in life and in death. Mary was someone that people wanted to be around and had the ability to bring out the best in the people around her. Her wisdom, confidence, and strength were an inspiration to anyone who knew her. Mary Carlotta Frank was taken from this earth January 2, 2010. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Andrew Frank; loving children, Drew (Kris) Frank, Gail (Richard) Eikelenboom, Lynn (Ali) Razavi, and Mark (Laurie) Frank, and preceded in death by her son, the late Wade Frank (d. 2009); grandchildren Nicholas Frank, the late Jennifer Wilson (d. 1985), Christopher Wilson, Jason Razavi, Megan Razavi, Lorri (Alex) Clark expecting the first great-grandchild, Erica (Devon) Stanforth, Jordon Frank, Aaron Frank, Dana Frank, Sean Frank, and Sarah Frank.
