Obituary for Martha Ann Long

Martha Ann Long (McMannus), a long time resident of Brighton, died on December 18, 2018 at the age of 82. She is survived by her son, Dwayne (Amy) Long; her grandsons, Tyler (Amanda) Long and Derek Long, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, dear friends and faithful companion, Daisy Mae.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie (Ruth Boyer) McMannus; brother, Lloyd McMannus, and sisters, Lillian Russell, Mary Stone, and Garnet McMannus.

Martha was born in Franklin County Ohio, on January 7, 1936. Growing up on the family farm instilled in her, an ethic of hard work, and the goodness of farm-fresh produce, including her own homegrown tomatoes each year. Martha provided safe transportation for many children as a bus driver for Howell and Brighton Schools, before working as a test driver, and later, a test analyst at the General Motors Proving Ground for over 22 years. Martha eventually retired on August 1, 2001.

Her love for people was evident in so many ways. Martha was an amazing mother, raising her son, Dwayne with so much love and encouragement. Throughout the days of her life, many were blessed by her strong faith, her prayers for them, and a generous heart, by the way she gave anything she could to contribute and help those in need. She was not only a friend to many, but an adopted aunt, sister, mother and grandmother. Martha enjoyed to cook up a great meal, or meet you for lunch. Her final wish, very well might be to make sure you meet her in heaven, and she will have the table set and waiting for you.

Services will be held privately with interment in Fairview Cemetery in Brighton. Condolences may be left at www.LynchandSonsBrighton.com
