Obituary for Mark Steven Wood

Mark Wood, a resident of Hamburg Township, died peacefully in his sleep on March 6th, 2022, surrounded by family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of twenty-six years, Barbara, and by his parents Woody (Carol), and Patricia (Robert) Hatto.

In addition to his loving children Jeremy (Amy Wong) and David (Brittany) Wood, and Emma (Andy Lee) Dunne and Jackson (Elizabeth) Buell, he leaves behind his brother, Phil (Marianne) Wood, and his dear companion, Merilee Zane.

Mark was an active and devoted congregant of First United Methodist Church and gave selflessly of his time to many causes, including Habitat for Humanity, Men with Tools, Appalachian Service Project, Gleaners Community Food Bank, Cass Community Social Services, and more.  In addition to his generous and devout spirit, he will be remembered for his storytelling abilities (Lord knows he loved to talk), his sense of humor, and for the twinkle in his eyes.

If any of God's creatures deserves recognition for unconditional love, forthrightness, and loyalty, Mark will be at the top of that list.  His loving family, and those fortunate enough to call him friend, look forward to a reunion with him in the afterlife.

A special note of thanks is extended to Arbor Hospice of Ann Arbor for their compassionate and professional care during his final days.

A Memorial Service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Brighton, 400 E Grand River Ave., Brighton on a April 2, 2022, officiated by Pastor Jon Reynolds. Visitation will begin at 10 AM, and the Service will begin at 11. At Mark's request, please feel free to wear jeans and T-shirts to the service, or whatever attire makes you comfortable.
