Obituary for Mark Joseph Snabes

Mark Joseph Snabes, a long time resident of Brighton, died at his home on April 28, 2010. Mark was born on September 14, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Dominic and Josephine Snabes, and grew up in Dearborn where he attended Dearborn High School. Upon graduating he went on to receive a Degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University. He spent his teaching career at many schools, including Brighton, Walled Lake, Whitmore Lake, and Fowlerville where he taught Community Education, and taught for many years at Ryan Regional Correctional Facility and at the W. J. Maxey Training School. He was a master carpenter and painter, and his artistic nature carried over into the tending of his beautiful gardens. Mark enjoyed a good game of darts, long distance running, and he knew how to relax in a good book or in his daily listening to the programming of NPR radio. Above all, Marks greatest love and accomplishment were his children, Zac and Anne, for whom he was a total sweetheart.

He is survived by his son, Zachary, daughter, Anne, and granddaughter, Belle; parents, Josephine and Dominic Snabes of Dearborn; brothers, Michael (Lisa) Snabes, Thomas (Christine Irwin) Snabes; sisters, Susie, Mary Spencer, and Kit Snabes; former spouse, Sue Snabes, and many dear friends who will miss his great sense of humor and his kindness.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 600 E. Main Street, Brighton, on Sunday, May 2nd, at 4PM with Fr. Karl Pung officiating. Friends may visit Sunday 1PM until the time of service. For further information please phone 810-229-2905.
