Obituary for Mark Fisher

Mark Herbert Fisher of Hartland, Michigan, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2022. He was 84 years old.

Mark was born on December 4, 1937 in Detroit Michigan to the the late Mark William Fisher and the late Virginia Grace Haigh. He grew up in Detroit where he attended Cody High School. In 1959 Mark joined the Army and was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky and Fort Lee, Virginia. He served until 1963 with an honorable discharge.

Mark was employed at Dunn Blueprint for many years until his retirement. Because Mark enjoyed being engaged with people, after retirement he worked for Hartland School System as a driver for their senior center where he also volunteered.

He was very involved with the community and was a member of the local Knights of Columbus where he would proudly participate in the local Memorial Day Parade. Passionate about American Presidential history and Civil War history, Mark would often share his knowledge of history with his children, family, and friends. He also enjoyed speaking about local and international politics. In his younger days he would build with his son, Mark Jr., model airplanes made from balsa wood. A natural athlete, he could jump a 3-foot vertical. He declined a full athletic scholarship to join the Army.

Mark spent most of his days spending time with his wife, Annette, watching classic and western movies, reading, walking, talking to his son, spending time at the senior center with his friends and was always available to chat and help his neighbors. He was a loyal fan of the Michigan Wolverines, the Detroit Lions, and the Detroit Tigers. Mark was a devout Catholic.

Mark is survived by his wife of 51 years, Annette Fisher. He is also survived by two of his three children from a previous marriage to Shirley Mary Ann Covitz: Mark Anthony Fisher, Karen Ann Fisher (deceased), and Kimberlee’ Ann Fisher; 18 grandchildren: Mark Anthony: Mario, Mark , Marlin, Chandler, Chayse, Chaney, Mark, Jr. and Genevieve; Karen Ann: Howard, Shena, Marie, Gregory, Laquita (deceased), Mark and Khadijah; Kimberlee' Ann: Casey, Curtis Jr., and Grace; 26 great grandchildren; a special niece, Kristin George, a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. His sister, Millicent Fisher and son-in-law, Godfrey Clarke (Kimberlee’), proceeded him in death.

We will miss you and your legacy will live on!
