Margaret Julia Nagy passed away peacefully on May 10th, 2022, at the age of 96.
She was born March 26th, 1926, in Detroit, Michigan, to parents Stephen and Julia Sivak.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be dearly missed. She married Frank Nagy on October 18, 1947, and was married for 48 years until his death. They had three children, who were their pride and joy. Margaret worked first at the gas company, then as a noon aide at the local elementary school, and finally as an administrative secretary for the Southfield School system, where she met some of her closest friends. She was a devoted friend to so many, and they truly became an extension of her family. Some of her favorite times were attending orchestral concerts, gardening, vacationing, and most importantly, spending time with family & friends. Margaret had a great wit and sense of humor, & loved learning about new things.
She was incredibly proud of her Hungarian heritage, having the opportunity to visit in 2001, was an amazing homemaker & cook of traditional Hungarian food, & belonged to the American Hungarian Reformed Church in Allen Park, MI. Her memory will be kept alive in so many people’s hearts.
She is survived by her loving children: Margaret (Richard) Malthaner, Frank (Mary) Nagy, Edie (William) Plotkowski; grandchildren: Laura (Richard) Wallace, Elissa (Greg) Haynes, Kate (Caylan) Laufer, Stephen Nagy, Lauren Plotkowski, great-grandchildren: Zach Wallace, Avery Haynes, Cullen Haynes. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, and her two sisters, Helen Lada and Velma Butler.
Per her request, private family services will take place.
