Be the first to share your favorite memory, photo or story of Margaret. This memorial page is dedicated for family, friends and future generations to celebrate the life of their loved one.
We ask on behalf of the family that you keep your comments uplifting and appropriate to help all who come here to find comfort and healing.
Margaret Moilanen, née Cella, died January 13, 2017 at her home following a recent diagnosis of lung cancer, after living with COPD for years.
Margaret was born in Detroit, attended Saint Gregory Catholic School for 12 years, moved to Brighton in 1966 and lived there the rest of her life.
A beloved mother of eight children, Margaret was a life-long learner. She could out-Scrabble anyone, did the NYT Sunday crossword with an almanac at hand, and spent hours on jigsaw puzzles. She also enjoyed knitting, reading, and never missed Jeopardy. There wasn’t a card game she wouldn’t learn and she had fun playing double-deck euchre with her ‘card ladies’. Margaret’s love of cooking was experienced by many.
The family thanks hospice for the care given and compassion shown in Margaret’s final days.
Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 600 E Main St., Brighton on Monday, January 16 from 3 pm to 8 pm, scripture service at 7 pm. Tuesday, January 17, visitation 10 am until Memorial Mass 11 am at St. Mary Magdalen, 2201 S Old US 23, Brighton. Luncheon will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gleaners of Livingston County or Livingston County Catholic Charities.
