Obituary for Linda Gail Peters

Linda Gail “Purple Girl” Peters, passed away peacefully at Henry Ford Hospital on May 11, 2021. Her loving sister, Pamela Ruiz, was holding her hand when she passed.  Linda was an adored wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Linda was born on November 21,1948 in Detroit, MI. She started working for AT&T in the 1980’s and worked her way up through the company as a dedicated employee for over 35 years.  As dedicated as she was to her job, friends, and neighbors, she treasured her family most of all. Family gatherings were epic occasions and she was happiest when she saw her family was together and enjoying life. There was nothing Linda loved more, than to watch her grandsons compete in their hockey, soccer, baseball, tennis, and golf matches. She traveled countless miles to cheer them on as they competed.  Linda was a helping hand, a warm hug, and knew how to make everyone feel special. Her proudest accomplishment was being the "World’s Best Grammy”. For Linda, being a grandma did not stop at her biological family but extended to anyone who needed a loving figure.

Linda loved an exceptional meal at several local Metro Detroit restaurants. Many restaurant owners and waitstaff across Michigan knew her order by heart and adored her. However, she was somewhat of a pizza connoisseur, believing it was “all about the sauce”. Linda loved a good glass of “bubbly"as she was always ready to “cheers” and celebrate someone. As an avid bowling league party planner, she looked forward to hanging out with “her girls”.  It didn’t matter that Linda was not polish, she was a self-taught pierogi maker and honored the tradition. She loved the fact that her family had a competition of who could eat the most.

Linda will be missed by her entire family and so many more; Her loving husband of 54 years, Michael Peters Sr.; Her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Michael & Erin Peters; Her daughter and son-in-law, Sarah & Matthew Gossett; Her grandchildren, Carson Peters, Cameron Peters, Graham Peters, Luke Lampman, Adam Lampman, Hunter Gossett and Brayden Gossett; Many nieces and nephews, who considered her so much more than an aunt. She is survived by her mother Merry Derrick. Her siblings: Charles Greg Noe, Donald Drake, David (Karen) Drake, Cheryl Nigg, Pamela Ruiz and Laura (Don) Slagle. Linda was preceded in death by her father Charles Noe; brother Glen Noe; stepmother Barbara Noe, stepfather Ralph Derrick and aunt Millie Ford-Smith.

Linda’s family is grateful for the incredible care and friendship she encountered throughout her life. We would especially like to thank Dr. Randa Loutfi, who Linda adored and called her angel.

A private celebration of life honoring Linda’s legacy will be held at a later date by family invitation. Linda’s family has asked that those wishing to honor her memory do so by supporting awareness of and research into breast cancer. Donations can be made in her name to the following: Susan G. Komen www.komen.org or St. Jude Children’s Research
