GRIEF & HEALING
affirmations to uplift & help you through
each stage of the grieving process.
Lawrence “Larry” Buslepp passed in peace at home on Monday, June 15, 2020.
Larry was born on August 2, 1943, in Detroit, MI. Larry was a loving husband, father, and Papa.
Larry met his wife Gretchen at a dance. Larry was a car guy who worked for GM and Gretchen was a teacher. Gretchen quickly learned a lot about cars and Larry learned about listening and following directions. They were married in 1972 and spent 47 years together.
Over time, four children joined the family and Larry happily took on the role of the fun parent. When he was in charge of the young brood they had his full attention. He invented games that often, much to Gretchen’s chagrin, involved every toy in the house. Later on when the kids played sports, he was a faithful attendee at every game, even as walking on soccer as baseball fields became more challenging for him.
As the kids grew and graduated high school and college and became adults, he was so proud of their accomplishments. He was also always happy to help the kids deal with car repairs and to research whatever car they wanted to buy next.
Larry delighted in seeing his grandchildren and when they were young, he enjoyed visits to Delaware to visit Adrianna and Chase. As travel became more difficult, he found his own peaceful retreat in Livingston County. He loved the natural beauty of his neighborhood with trees and waterfalls. He spent time watching birds and visiting neighbors and was a familiar sight around the subdivision.
Larry also enjoyed being part of his faith community and St. Mary Magdalen, attending Saturday liturgy and visiting with friends after mass.
Larry faced life’s ups and downs with strength and determination, and left us all with a lesson on living and dying with dignity. He always kept a positive attitude and a smile on his face, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, June 19, 2020 at 12 pm at Saint Mary Magdalen located at 2201 S. Old 23 Highway, Brighton, MI 48114. Friends and family are welcome to celebrate at the church beginning at 10 am until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Michigan or Magdalen’s Kitchen.
