Larry A. Kruger of Hamburg Township died Sunday, July 5, 2009 in the care of his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 55 years old.
Born July 25, 1953 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Larry was one of three children born to parents Clyde Alden and Clema F. (nee. Ferguson) Kruger. Larry and his siblings were raised in Saline, Michigan where he graduated from Saline High School in 1971.
Over 33 years ago, Larry met and married Mary C. DeWaelsche. The couple was blessed by the births of their children Eric and Sarah.
During his working career, Larry worked for Sheridan Books, Inc. in Ann Arbor. He was with the company for 25 years as a production planner.
Larry enjoyed spending time outdoors doing a variety of activities including restoring antique John Deere tractors. Larry had fond memories of annual Bass fishing trips Up North with Eric. He was deeply passionate about any cause that demonstrated his support of and love for his daughter Sarah. Larry was a wonderful husband and dedicated father. His extended family knew him lovingly as "Uncle Larry" . Larry was a Christian man with longstanding affiliation with St. Paul Lutheran Church of Hamburg, and most recently, with Cornerstone Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Brighton.
Larry's favorite hobbies were putzing, diddling, and tinkering in his yard and workshop. If there wasn't a project to do, Larry would invent one. He was often found in his workshop doing any number of his crafts. Larry was skilled at wood turning and produced many pieces on his lathe including bowls and candle sticks.
Although Abby preferred the comfort of the couch to the workshop, Larry made special time for his favorite miniature Schnauzer on their evening walks.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years Mary C. Kruger; loving children Eric (Regina) and Sarah Kruger, and the newest addition to the family one dear granddaughter Calli. Also survived by his parents Clyde and Clema Kruger; sisters Diane (Tom) Elwart and Linda (Mark) Wilcox; his in-laws Clare (Peter) Holden, Barbara Giza and Mark (Ruth) DeWaelsche. Many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends also survive and join with his family in mourning his death and giving thanks for his life among them. Larry will be missed by Abby his miniature Schnauzer.
Funeral from Cornerstone Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 9455 Hilton Rd., Brighton, Thursday, July 9th, 2009, 11:00 AM. The Rev. Dr. Richard Alberta to officiate.
