Kenneth Dale Abbott, of Brighton, passed away on April 15, 2016 at the age of 68.
Kenny was born on July 31, 1947 in Albany, Kentucky to parents Theodore and Pearl (nee. Cowan) Abbott. He grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana.
He proudly served as a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1966 to 1968 and was awarded several medals including the Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Star and the Purple Heart.
Kenny moved to Michigan in 1978. He married Tammy Plunkett on July 19, 1991 in Walled Lake, Michigan.
He was employed by Farmer Jack and Kroger for over 40 years, and enjoyed his job in the food industry as a butcher. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and spending time on the rifle range. A people person at heart and possessing an infectious smile, Kenny could quickly make a stranger into a friend through conversation. A man with a generous heart and kind spirit, Kenny treasured his family. His love of life, his quick wit and funny nature will be missed by many and cherished by all.
Kenny is survived by his beloved wife, Tammy, children, Kenneth Henry (Christine) Abbott, Dawn (Eric) Wenzel and Sheila (William) Stevens; grandchildren Brad, Sara, Isaiah, Josephine, Ethan, Zander and Zoe, his siblings, Penny, Columbus and Christine, and his pug, Shelby. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Leah Abbott and his sisters Sally Johnston and Willie Marley.
Friends may visit on Monday, April 18 from 4 - 8 PM, Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 600 East Main St., Brighton, MI.
A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, April 19 at 10 AM, Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, Pastor Randy Duncan to officiate.
Burial and Military Honors will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI at 2:30 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
