Julia Maye Jonik (nee Calvets) passed into Eternal Life on June 13, 2013 at 87 years of age. She is survived by her beloved, Julian Jonik. Dearest Mother of Mary (Greg) Morris, Paul (Suzanne) and Julian (Tammy). Dear �Amma� of Grandchildren Christopher and Maryssa Morris, Peter Jonik, Zachary, Sarah and Hannah Jonik. She is predeceased by sisters Chrysanthe Calvets and Shirley Blair, and brother George Calvet. Dear Sister of Helen Wingert, Anna Chaplow, and Elizabeth Lear and Dear Sister-in Law of Darlene Calvet.
Julia was born in Detroit to George and Julia Calvets and graduated from St. Rose of Lima High School. She worked for the IRS, Continental Motors, and took modeling classes at Patricia Stevens. After her marriage to Julian, they lived in Roseville, Michigan, Largo, Florida and returned to live in Washington, Michigan. They spent happy years raising their family with many good friends and neighbors. She loved gardening, teaching catechism and was involved in the Catholic churches they attended. Julia was consecrated under the Banner of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Her beautiful smile and happy outlook was a blessing. She will be forever in our hearts.
Julia will lie in state at St John Catholic Church (Little Church), 1991 N. Hacker Road (south side of M-59) Saturday, June 15 from 9:30-11:30 AM. Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 AM with Fr. Francis M. George officiating.
Family and friends may also join for Committal services and Interment at Resurrection Cemetery, 18201 Clinton River Rd., Clinton Twp, Monday, 10 AM. Final prayers will take place within the Most Holy Trinity Mausoleum. Attendees are asked to enter the cemetery at the main gate on Clinton River Road prior to 10:00 a.m.
