Roy Wallace Tidwell Jr. a resident of Howell, died on June 22, 2014 at the age 66. Born in Detroit on November 16, 1947, the son of Roy Wallace Tidwell Sr. and Alice Laura Wagenknecht, Roy grew up in Detroit with his five sisters.
Roy met Jackie Godfrey at Christos Coney Island in 1973. They fell in love and were married on February 1, 1974 and made their first home in Detroit. Roy worked as a repairman with the Ford Motor Companys Wixom plant for forty years. He retired in the year of 2006.
Most of all Roy enjoyed his home, family and grandchildren. He was a fixture at their sporting events and loved watching television, especially U of M and Lions football.
Roy had the ability to strike up a conversation with people that he encountered everywhere. Whether on a cruise with his wife, at the bank, Krogers, Walmart, or the CVS store everyone knew Roy and enjoyed his kind-heartedness, his jokes and the candy that the Candy Man always carried and had ready to share.
One of the things that his family loved about him was that he spoke freely and honestly and was liable to say or do anything at anytime. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie; daughter, Kim (Doug) Maleitzke; son, Roy Tidwell; grandchildren, Caleb & Noah Maleitzke and Cody & Jaylee Tidwell; sisters, Norma Laesser, Geraldine (John) Leach, Carol (John) Savinsky; mother-in-law, Marlene Godfrey; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Godfrey, Marcia Crumb, Mike (Mona) Godfrey, Rick ( Kelly) Godfrey, David Godfrey, Walter Dison and many nieces, nephews, dear friends and his faithful beloved poodle Weezie. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Tidwell Sr.; mother, Alice Tidwell; sisters, Irene Wojciechowski and Alice Tidwell; his father-in-law, Jack Godfrey Sr.; sister-in-law, Marie Dison and brother-in-law, Jack Godfrey.
