Obituary for John Paul Buschbacher

John Paul Buschbacher, a resident of Brighton and formerly of Venice, Florida, passed away at home on September 17, 2012. He was 57 years old.

Born October 10, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan, John was one of three children born to parents Adam and Aurelia "Rita" (nee. Retty) Buschbacher. John was raised with his siblings in Detroit, before relocating to Venice, Florida where he graduated from Venice High School. John's parents remained in Venice where he continued to visit throughout his life. As a young man, he returned to Michigan on his own. John was not on his own for very long when he met the young Maryalice Methner, a fellow colleague, at the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor. What began as friendship became love, and on September 17, 1988, John and Maryalice were married. The couple was blessed by the births of their daughter Rita and son Adam. John and Maryalice raised their family in Brighton. John was a devoted husband and was dedicated to his family. John was an advocate for his children, always encouraging them on their paths; he was deeply proud of their accomplishments, never missing an opportunity to boast on their behalf.

John was an avid outdoorsman who loved all kinds fishing, including fresh or saltwater, and hunting, specifically the kind where he took long walks and the occasional nap in the woods. In leisure, if John wasn't on the water or in the woods, he was on the golf course with a group of his buddies. He also played his fair share of poker.

In addition to Maryalice his beloved wife of 24 years, John is survived by his daughter Rita and son Adam; sister Barb (Ralph) Chiesa; and dear friend Robert (Molly) Orvis; also extended family and a host of dear friends.

In accordance with John's wishes, Memorial Gathering to be planned privately.

Memorial contributions encouraged to: Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
