Obituary for John E. Acuff

Hi Everyone,

We’d like to express our deepest thanks to you for your support, kind words and prayers during this extremely difficult time. We realize that several of you have asked for information about the arrangements to honor John’s life and provide support for the family. We are truly grateful.

The family will be respecting his wishes to have a private, family-centered memorial service in celebration of his life. The strong foundation, which he was the cornerstone of strength and love for, will be honored by his wife, daughters, sons-in-law, 10 grandchildren, siblings and other close family members coming together.

While several of you know that John was recently diagnosed with Lung Cancer this past Spring and was undergoing an aggressive treatment regimen, he also suffered from Interstitial Lung Disease. Complications from his treatments were compounded by the existence and progression of this disease. If you’d like to honor John’s memory and contribute to further research and treatment, the family has requested for donations to please go to the American Lung Association.

As many of you know, you never really stop missing someone that has passed on; you just learn to live around the huge gaping hole of their absence. Living around that hole is made possible by the continued support, love and prayers that the people around them provide. It’s friends like you that make this possible. Thank you.

“There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.”
--Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
