Joan Rutkowski, 90, of Fenton, Michigan passed away on Friday, June 10, 2022.
Joan was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 20, 1932, the only child of the late Thomas and Sophie Kwasniak. She grew up in Delray, Michigan and Lincoln Park, Michigan. She was a graduate of Southeastern High School.
Joan worked as an administrative assistant for the Detroit Board of Education. She married the love of her life, Norman J. Rutkowski, in Delray at St. John Cantius Catholic Church. They purchased a home in Dearborn Heights, Michigan where they lived until after the death of Norman in 1995. She was blessed with three children, five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
For Joan, her faith and her family were always closest to her heart. She always enjoyed the time spent with her family. She was a humble and sweet woman who will be truly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Beloved wife of the late Norman J. Rutkowski. Loving mother of Sue Rutkowski (Linda Ward), Michael Rutkowski (Melanie) (and the late Gail), and Cheryl Quin (Michael). Devoted grandmother of Melanie Rea (Jon), Patrick Quin (Shelby), Michael A. Quin, Crystal Hughes (Logan), and Michael J. Rutkowski, Jr. Proud great-grandmother of Benjamin Rea, Jack Rea, Collette Quin, Eli Rea, Paisley Hughes, Finley Quin, and Dean Hughes. Also survived by a sister-in-law Bernie Jarosz (Tom).
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022 from 4:00pm-8:00pm at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 600 E. Main St. Brighton, MI 48116. A Rosary will be held at 7:00pm.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 11:00am at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 2201 S. Old 23 Highway, Brighton, MI 48114. Visitation will begin at the church at 10:00am.
Burial will be held privately at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights, MI next to her beloved husband.
Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in Joan’s memory.
