They fell in love and married at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Detroit on August 7, 1940 and made their home in Howell where they were blessed with the births of three sons and three daughters.
After her children were grown Irene enjoyed working as a real estate agent with Howell Town & Country Real Estate and operated Irenes Gift Shop, a religious goods store from her home for many years. Irene and her husband wintered in Florida for many years before permanently moving to Clermont, Florida, where she lived for over thirty years. In Clermont, she was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where everyone knew her as mother superior. Her family brought her back to live in Brighton near her family four years ago.
