George Philip Kokalis, age 82, of Brighton, Michigan, passed away quietly at Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. George was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 29, 1937 to Greek immigrant parents, Leonidas and Marie Christopher Kokalis.

George attended Redford High School and served his country by joining the U.S. Marine Corp from January 26, 1955 to January 25, 1963. He completed his Marine Aircraft Hydraulic School Certificate on December 31, 1957. George was very proud to have served on a Navy 6th Fleet aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean as an aviation hydraulic repair manager. George was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corp on January 25, 1963 with the rank of Sergeant. George was a patriot. He loved his country for the freedom it gave him, and the opportunity it gives to all people to live their lives as they choose.

Once released from the Marines, George worked for Chrysler Missile for four years, on an apprenticeship earning a journeyman’s card in machine hydraulic repair. Later he worked for Scherer Engineering as their sales engineer. He was a sales manager for P.S.I for seven years, followed by a four-year career with St. Lawrence Servo as a Sale’s Manager.

George founded Servo Kinetics, Inc. of Ann Arbor, Michigan, over forty years ago. The company specializes in industrial hydraulic repair and manufacturing of electro-hydraulic components, in a variety of essential American and worldwide industries. Servo Kinetics, Inc., became a major player in the support of the power industry and flight simulation industry.

George and Carolyn married on February 14, 1985. A large part of their life has been devoted to his business, enjoying their family, friends, and employees through get-togethers during their entire marriage. He particularly loved Greek food of his heritage. George and Carolyn were passionate supporters of Michigan Football, and entertained family, friends, employees and clients at the Big House. They are active members of St. George Lutheran Church in Brighton, Michigan.
