George Edward Trout, born January 18, 1926 to Lillian Bates and Conrad Trout passed in his sleep to join his beloved wife, Berna Lee (Muller) on October 12, 2018. George and Berna married on June 19,1953 and celebrated 62 years of marriage together before Berna passed in October of 2014.
George graduated with an education degree from Michigan State College and went on to get his Master’s degree from Wayne State University. George taught science in the Detroit Public Schools for 30+ years. He finished his career teaching in Bloomfield Hills and then he and Berna went on to sell Real Estate with Cranbrook Realty in Franklin. George was a hard worker and often worked several jobs beside teaching to support his family. He loved his Ford tractor and did snow plowing and landscaping in their longtime neighborhood of Woodcreek Farms.
George and wife Berna retired at their Canadian Lakes Swiss chalet built by Berna’s father, Ernest Muller, George and sons, Tim and Terry. They loved to travel and were blessed to travel to Switzerland, where Berna’s father, Ernest was born and raised. They also prided themselves on taking their grandchildren, often for weeks at a time and did short trips, boat rides, lots of cards, games and ice cream. Their children and grandchildren were their pride and joy! Later, George loved to play bridge with his neighbors at Independence Village Senior Living. George was an avid wood carver and carved many beautiful animals and other items for friends and family. He even carved a full-size carousel horse.
George is survived by his 4 children, Tim (Jadonna), Terry, Tina, Patty (Ken Kuster) and 9 grandchildren, Daniel (Janell), Julie (Timothy), Chelsey (Spencer), Cortney (Reuben), Jason, Josh, Brent, Brittany Ella, and 5 great grandchildren, Abigail, Matthew, Christina, Lydia and Anna. He is also survived by his brother, David (Anita), sister Dorothy (Chuck) and sister in law, Jane.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Independence Village, 7700 Nemco Way, Brighton, MI 48116 beginning at 11:30 AM.
