Obituary for Frances Sperkoski

Frances Sperkoski, 87, of Brighton and formerly Redford Twp., passed away June 15, 2013.

Born in Detroit to Louis and Alexandra Swenskowski, she lived on the West Side in a Polish neighborhood. She graduated from Chadsey High School in 1944. During WWII, she worked at Ft. Wayne, then was a stenographer at Timken Corp. She met Clemence and was married Nov. 9, 1957.

In addition to Clemence, her husband of 55 years, Frances is survived by her daughters Carol (Erich) Mau and Pat (Tom) Butts; granddaughters Kelly Mau, Lindsay Mau, Katelyn Butts, and Rachel Butts; brother Casimer (the late Elizabeth) Swenskowski.

Preceded in death by sisters Stephanie (John) Wrysch and Genevieve (Walter) Filipowski.

She enjoyed cooking, sewing, polka dancing and hosting family parties. She loved playing cards and was currently a member of the St. Patrick Card Club. She was a member of the St. Patrick Prayer Chain and the Ladies Auxiliary of Romanowski VFW. Frances was a prayerful woman and had a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother.

Frances was sought out for her "pearls of wisdom". Her gift of being a good listener helped her extract the relevant issue and provide guidance. Those that went to her for advice left with a feeling of comfort and direction. Her simple sweetness will be missed by family and friends.
