Obituary for Frances Elaine Shires

Frances Elaine Shires, 75 passed away at home on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 in Brighton, MI. She was born January 21, 1936 in Las Vegas, New Mexico.

Her life was full with joy, laughter and loved ones. She surrounded herself with things that made her happy, no matter how many challenges in life she faced. Living each day to the fullest was her gift as she packed a lot into the suitcase of life. She lived her legacy as a wife, mother, grandma, aunt, and friend. Through her laughter, beautiful smile, zest for life and love for the Lord, she showed kindness and grace everyday.

Frances was a State of Michigan employee for 25 years who resided for 30 years in Grayling, MI. She served as the Camp Commander's secretary under 6 different Colonels for most of her career. Golf, card games and travel were enjoyed later during her retirement. Her life revolved around those she loved and she made the most of everyday.

She was preceded in death by David Shires, her husband of 35 years.

She is survived by four children, Bill (Donna) Anderson of Macon GA, David (Marla) Shires of Portage, Becky (Rick) Cwiek of Brighton, Mary (Rick) Munson of Holland. Seven grandchildren who brought an abundance of joy; Brandon, Laura, Alex, Trevor, Rachel, Zachary and Jonathan.

A Funeral Service will be held at Cornerstone Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 9455 Hilton Rd., Brighton, on Monday, March 28, 2011 at 11 AM. Dr. Richard J. Alberta to officiate. Visitation will be at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 600 East Main St., Brighton, on Sunday 4-7 PM & at church, Monday 10 AM until time of service. Private family interment at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy, MI.
