Frances C. McCallister, age 92, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2020 at her Fowlerville residence.
She was born in Detroit in 1927, the eldest of six siblings. Frances graduated from East Detroit High School and became a skilled secretary for the Crowley Milner hotels in Detroit. She met the love of her life, Philip McCallister, and the couple courted in the grand ballrooms of the 1940’s in Detroit and in the Michigan Union ballrooms, as Philip was a U of M engineering student. They married in 1950.
She was a loving mother to their three girls: Linda (Warren) Garr of Brighton, Joan Connolly of Romulus and Judy (John) Milton of Tybee Island, Georgia. Frances was an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed sewing matching outfits for her three little girls. She loved children and delighted in her six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held at St. George Lutheran Church, 803 W. Main Street, Brighton on Wednesday, January 8 at 11 AM, with a social time of gathering in the Church Fellowship Hall beginning at 10 AM. Pastor Sharon Huff to officiate. Ashes will be interred at Berlin Township Cemetery, Almont, Michigan on a summer day.
