Edward Ted Norris Andrews, a resident of Brighton Township, passed away on Friday evening, August 24, 2012 after a brave battle with cancer. He was 63 years old.
Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on November 24, 1948, Ted was the son of Louis & Helen Andrews. He attended Ann Arbor High and graduated from the University of Michigan and has been an avid Wolverine fan his entire life.
In the 1970s Ted worked and later was an owner of the famous Pizza Bobs on State Street known to many students at that time as the legendary Fast Eddie. Ted left Ann Arbor in the late 70s to live in San Diego only to return to Michigan in 1980 to marry Alice Fortune on February 8, 1980.
In 1986 the family of six moved to Livingston County and Ted became highly active within the community, serving in multiple capacities including on the committee for Cub Scout Troop 385 and as the basketball commissioner for H.A.Y.A.A. He was elected to the Hartland Board of Education three times serving for 12 years. Ted was a man who took his responsibility seriously, missing only two meetings in all his tenure, both for medical reasons. An avid runner for over 25 years, Ted ran in over 150 races including 2 marathons and enjoyed running with Brighton Running Club. Many family camping trips were planned around week-end races.
Ted was a man who enjoyed his family and friends, which included his colleagues at Governor Business Solutions in Dearborn where he had worked for 21 years. His favorite pastimes included travel, golf, bridge and following all things Wolverine. He was ever an optimist and whenever asked how he was doing his answer was always the same, Loving Life.
In addition to his beloved wife, Alice (nee Fortune) and their children, Andrew, James, Katherine and Jonathan Andrews, Ted is survived by his grandchildren, Jacob, Katherine, Garrison; brother, Michael (Gillian) Andrews; sisters, Sharon (Craig) Rowley, Nancy (Ed) Pitman; sisters-in-law, Barbara Fortune, Elise (Norm) Lustig; many nieces & nephews, extended family members, colleagues and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis & Helen, parents-in-law, Raymond & Leona Fortune and his brother, Geoffrey.
