Obituary for Dylan Drew Martin

Dylan Drew Martin, age 5 and beloved son of Drew and Anne Martin of South Lyon, died on November 29, 2017 after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Dylan was an awesome little boy. He was sweet, kind, always happy, and his smile and presence lit up the room. He was an ‘old soul,’ ever observant, and loved to learn new things. He taught and inspired those around him including his nurses, doctors and teachers. He wanted to be an oncologist so that he could help people like the doctors he admired.

He was a special and cool kid to his family. He was a ‘momma’s boy’, always helping to do chores about the house and loved to make a shopping list for the trip to the grocery store that he enjoyed so much with his mom. Not only did he keep perfect attention to his medications and diet needs, but also was ready with dietary suggestions for his dad. To his brother and sister he was a ‘superhero’ for conquering everything that his cancer brought him, including being the first child under the age of 3 to ever take radiation treatments without anesthesia.

Though his life was far too short, the impact and impression that he has left on everyone he touched will remain forever.

In addition to his parents Drew and Anne, he leaves his brother, Evan, his twin sister, Delaney, and sister, Addison; grandparents, Marcia Martin and Jean and Dave Pepper; uncles, Matt Martin and Ian Pepper; his nanny “grandma”, Kathy (Dick) McKinnie and many friends, fellow students and teachers at his church and school. He was preceded in death by a sister, Emma, and grandfather, Richard Martin.
