Doris Mae (nee. Webb) Fay, a lifetime resident of Brighton, MI, died on October 22, 2019, having almost made her 90th birthday. Her parents came to Brighton in 1914 and Doris was born on October 26, 1929 in Brighton in the original Mellus Hospital on North Street to parents Charles Albert and Rachel Francis (nee. Yerian) Webb.
Doris is survived by her two daughters, Sherry (John) Nyhus and Debbie (James Schumacher) Reuter; grandchildren, Jonathan Nyhus, Nicholas Reuter and Rachel Reuter; great-grandson, Jonathan Nyhus Jr., as well as dear friends and extended family members. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Rachel (nee. Yerian) Webb.
Doris graduated from Brighton High School in 1948. She was a member of the high school band.
She was an avid golfer and bowler in past years. Doris love to garden and enjoy her house plants. She could grow beautiful African violets and orchids. She enjoyed mowing her lawn on her John Deere tractor. A good garage sale was always a ‘must attend event’. Doris enjoyed her up north property at Hale, MI. Her black lab, Bud, was always with her when she went north Throughout Doris’ life, she visited all 50 states. Doris was a member of the Brighton Area Historical Society.
Doris worked for over three decades at Precision Stamping Co, of Brighton and later at the Howell location. Doris started in the shop area running press machines. She also had government clearance for jobs as an inspector. Doris was the head secretary and industrial job scheduler in later years for the John Parker family owners of Precision Stamping Co. She loved her job!
A Funeral Service will be held at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 10585 Hamburg Rd., Hamburg, MI 48139, on Thursday, October 31, 2019, at 11:00AM with gathering to begin at 10:00AM. The Rev. Fr. James Pashturro to officiate. Burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Brighton, MI.
Memorial contributions are encouraged in her name to the Wounded Warrior Project and Canines for Change.
