Obituary for Donald F. Oliver

Donald F. Oliver of Brighton and formerly Farwell died peacefully Thursday, March 11, 2010. He was 85 years old.

Born October 17, 1924 in Lake Orion, Michigan, Don was one of eleven children born to parents Lester and Ella Mae (nee. Jones) Oliver.

Don was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps. Following his service to his country in the Army, Don returned home to proudly serve his neighbors as a letter carrier for the United States Post Office for 30 years. After his formal retirement from the Post Office, Don began as a bus driver for the Farwell Area Schools which eventually turned into a second career lasting 14 years. Don was an active member of St. Mary Magdalen Church of Brighton.

Don is survived by his beloved wife Sandra of 22 years; children Sandra (Chet) Shaw, Mike (Linda) Oliver, Ross Oliver, Debra Mercer, Don (Betty) Oliver, Jr., Roger Oliver, Craig (Shari) Myers, Curtis (Wendy) Myers, and Corrine Bielicki; 23 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; siblings Joyce Kuzma and Nelson Oliver. Don was preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters, 3 brothers, and his first wife Evelyn Oliver. Also survived by extended family members and dear friends.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held Monday, March 15, 2010 at 11 AM at St. Mary Magdalen, 2201 S. Old US 23, Brighton. The Rev. Fr. David Howell to officiate. Friends welcome to gather from 10 AM until time of service.
