Dianne Mabel Reardon, a resident of Howell, died peacefully surrounded by her family, on August 24, 2018. She was 82 years old.
Dianne was born on August 23, 1936, along with her twin sister, at home in Detroit, the third child of five children to Raymond and Grace (nee. Mosier) Ruehlmann. Dianne grew up in Detroit and following graduation from Pershing High School, Dianne met William Leo Reardon during a blind date set up by her sister’s husband. It was love at first sight. After a brief courtship, Dianne and William married on July 9, 1955, and raised their family together in Livonia. Dianne and William lived their lives together, in work and in play. They enjoyed sixty-three beautiful years together.
For over thirty five years, Dianne worked at Wate-Man Fitness Equipment, a family business in which she was instrumental in building their retail sales throughout Michigan. Customers loved and respected Dianne, even after retirement, and were constantly amazed by her product knowledge and expertise.
Following her retirement in 2001, Dianne focused on her favorite hobby: being the ultimate grandma to her six grandchildren, and most recently two great-grandchildren. Family was most important to her. Young at heart, Dianne became a child again when she was with her grandchildren and could often be found riding bikes, hitting baseballs, or doing handstands right along with them in the pool. Dianne also enjoyed the role of hostess and made sure everyone was well taken care of at any gathering. She especially enjoyed hosting card games at her home with family and friends.
In addition to her family, Dianne loved music (just give her a word in a song and she would sing you the whole song!), dancing, reading and ice cream. Dianne was kind-hearted, fun-loving, thoughtful and generous, often putting others needs before her own.
She will forever be remembered by her husband, William Leo Reardon; her sons, William (Diane) Reardon, Ronald (Cheryl) Reardon; her daughters, Marilyn Reardon, Karen (John) Wing; grandchildren, Jaclyn (Michael) Bussert, Jeffrey Reardon, Kristin (Matthew) Browning, Rachel Reardon, Katie and Emily Wing; great-grandchildren, Liam and Claire Bussert; sister, Suzanne (Charles) Ricotta; brother, Louis (Jenny) Ruehlmann, as well as extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Grace and sisters, Marilyn (Raymond) Hedrick, Dorothy (Arthur) Finegan and Yvonne Burke.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2099 N Hacker Rd, Howell, on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 11 AM with gathering beginning at 10AM. The Rev. Fr. Francis George to officiate. Friends may visit Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 600 E. Main St., Brighton on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 4-8 PM.
